A renowned industrialist, Dr Chike Obidigbo, has reiterated the need for Ndigbo to unite and speak with one voice to fight for their rightful place in the nation’s scheme of things.
He reasoned that time had come for the Igbo race to jettison selfish interest and seek means of charting a new course to salvage them from all forms of marginalisation and unfair treatment.
Dr Obidigbo, who was fielding questions from newsmen at his Umunya Country home, lamented the inability of Ndigbo to work together and speak with one voice in matters affecting them.
The one time gubernatorial aspirant, under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during the 2013 polls, noted that the Igbo race could overcome greed and individualism to forge ahead for their betterment.
Describing Ndigbo as a special gift to the nation, he said effort should be aimed at bringing all Igbo nations together as one people and reawaken the consciousness of love, unity and collective interest.
Dr Obidigbo, who said his book “The Igbo Ouestion” had yet to hit the book stand, called for repositioning of the Igbo race to take their rightful position in the nation’s polity.
While speaking on the place of Ndigbo in the current Nigeria state, which according to him, requires collective efforts to address, he noted that a united Igbo race could move the people to the next level.
He frowned at the current inordinate pursuit of wealth without work by youths without considering the implications and called for urgent steps to save youths from getting completely ruined.
He expressed displeasure that the enterprising spirit of youths that qualified them to be drivers of manpower and resourcefulness was fast eluding them as they have no other role model except money.
