Emeason Chima, an officer with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), was kidnapped by gunmen in Enugu on Saturday near Maduka University in Nsukka. Chima, who is assigned to the RS4.211 Ugbokolo unit, was driving alone when he was attacked.
A senior FRSC official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million for Chima’s release. An internal memo from the agency confirmed that the gunmen used the officer’s phone to communicate their demands.
Emmanuel Al-Hassan, the Ugbokolo unit commander, noted in the memo, “The Command has received information regarding the kidnapping of SRMA Emeason Chima.” He detailed the location of the incident as being along the Nsukka-Enugu Road, after Maduka University, stating that Chima was driving a Toyota saloon car at the time of the abduction.
