The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has announced that candidates from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) won the chairmanship and councillorship seats in all 44 Local Government Areas and 484 wards during Saturday’s elections.
Prof. Sani Malumfashi, the KANSIEC Chairman, shared the results with the media on Saturday, stating, “According to the announcements from the Electoral and Returning Officers at various collation centers, the NNPP secured chairmanship positions in all 44 local governments, with 484 candidates winning councillorship roles.”
He confirmed that all Returning Officers and Ward Returning Officers had submitted their results in compliance with the law, affirming that the NNPP successfully captured all chairmanship and councillorship positions statewide.
Malumfashi noted that the elections were largely peaceful and successful. He expressed gratitude to key stakeholders, including security agencies, media organizations, political party leaders, civil society groups, and religious and community leaders, for their contributions to the process.
He highlighted that the smooth conduct of the elections reflects the public’s acceptance of the process regarding its credibility, fairness, and integrity. Additionally, the chairman praised voters for ensuring that children did not participate in the elections.
