Ahead of Saturday’s Local Government Polls in Anambra,the State Police Commissioner, CP Ntam Obono, has reassured the people of the state that they are ready to provide safe and secure environment for the local government elections.
The Police Boss who gave the assurance while briefing newsmen shortly after meeting with Heads of Security Agencies in Awka, said the purpose of the meeting is to review security arrangements for the elections and develop action plans that will ensure peaceful exercise.
He assured the citizenry that the security agencies will cover every part of the state to ensure peaceful elections, so that all eligible Ndi Anambra can exercise their franchise.
He added that contingency actions had been taken to address areas with peculiar security challenges, especially Ihiala, Ogbaru, Nnewi and Orumba South LGA axis.
CP Ntam Obono, then, explained that necessary security apparatus had been activated, calling on politicians not to see the election as à do or die affair.
He further underscored the need for the electorate to adhere strictly to the restriction of movement from 6am to 4pm on the election day.
