Labour party has nominated the younger brother of Late Oyibo Chukwu, Kelvin Chukwu, for rescheduled election for Enugu East Senatorial District, just as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the election to hold on Saturday,11th March, 2023.
Barrister Oyido Chukwu who was the party’s Senatorial Candidate was murdered few days to the March 25th General Polls by unidentified Gunmen while returning from a campaign rally in Enugu..
We gathered that the party’s stakeholders considered it proper to field the decreased younger brother, Kelvin Chukwu to fill the vacuum occasioned by his death.
In a Statement released by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education, INEC, Festus Okoye, said it will conduct the rescheduled election in Enugu in Edo States on Saturday,11th March, 2023 along with the Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
He further stated” The Commission is aware that in some some Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies Declarations and Returns were not made. We are compiling the list of affected Constituencies. A date for supplementary elections will be fixed after the Governorship and State Assembly Elections”
