The Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon Bar Chinedu Ononiba, has enrolled 1,000 citizens of the area into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA)
Speaking during the official ceremony for the free health insurance held at the Council’s Secretariat, Abagana, Ononiba said it was part of his commitment provide accessible and healthcare to the people.
Highlighting the significance of the event held as part of activities marking his 100 days in office,he noted that health of his people was paramount and at top priority of his agenda.
Hon Ononiba urged the beneficiaries to make optimal use of the opportunity and called on those yet to key into the scheme to do so for their health benefits.
Contributing,the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, as well as the Chief of Protocol to the Governor, Chinedu Nwoye, commended the Mayor for considering it proper to prioritize the health needs of his people.
Other personalities including, Pharm Chinedu Anaekwe, APGA Chairman Njikoka, Hon Clem’s Aguiyi, immediate past Mayor , Valentina Afoma and Hon Izuchukwu Ugokwe, underscored the importance of the gesture, emphasising that such should be emulated by other public office holders.
