A Non Governmental Organisation, Ide Global Movement has paid hospital bill worth N3.5 million for 17 indigent patients at the Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
In addition, it presented items including toiletries, provisions and food to inmates of Divine Mercy Compassion Home, Amawbia, near Awka, the State Capital.
According to the Founder of the Charity Foundation, Chief Azubuike Ekweozo, the gesture is part of his humanitarian outreach to mark his 53rd birthday.
Chief Ekweozo represented by the Coordinator of the Organisation, Mr Casmir Obiegbolu, said the goal of the Movement is to ensure that the less privileged in the society are catered for.
“As part of activities to mark his birthday and that of his son, he considered it worthy to celebrate with the less privileged. We are here to show love to them and let them know that they are part of the society”
Receiving the team on behalf of the hospital’s management, Mrs Louisa Ibekwe, a Nurse, appreciated the sponsor of the foundation for giving hope to the hopeless.
She, then, lauded Chief Ekweozo for extending his hand of love and support to the 17 patients who had been in the hospital for months after being discharged.
The Matron, Divine Mercy Compassion Home, Amawbia, Chizoro Ugwu, asked God to bless the donor for his generosity and touching the lives of the children.
Responding, some of the patients including Mr Chigozie Nwanebe, Ikenna Anekwe and Mrs Helen Ndubuisi, who said they were overwhelmed with joy, expressed gratitude to God and the Founder of the Foundation for coming to their aid.
The patients among whom were children, the aged, youths and accident victims, prayed God to bless Chief Ekweozo for saving them from their predicament.
Other associates of the organisation including representatives of Royal Ladies International, Excellent Ladies of Valour, Mrs Nonye Okechukwu and Lady Ifeoma Ezenyirimba respectively commended the kind gesture of Chief Ekweozo,who is their Patron,for giving back to the society through charity.
