Nigeria Super Falcons and Barcelona Striker, Asisat Oshoala have been nominated for the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or alongside 19 other nominees.
Oshoala who was the only nominee from Africa scored 20 goals in 19 games to share the top scorer award with Geyse Ferreira and also performed exceeding at the Barcelona Femini season for the Spanish league to earn the nomination.
The 27-years-old had limitations last season because of the injury she sustained but that did not discourage her from displaying her qualities in front of the goalposts anytime she has the chance to play.
Other nominees for the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or are; Selma Bacha (Lyon, France), Aitana Bonmati ( Barcelona, Spain), Millie Bright (Chelsea, England), Lucy Bronze (Barcelona, England), Kadidiatou Diani (Paris St-Germain, France), Christiane Endler (Lyon, Chile), Ada Hegerberg (Lyon, Norway), Marie-Antoinette Katoto (Paris St-Germain, France), Sam Kerr (Chelsea, Australia), Catarina Macario (Lyon, United States) and Beth Mead ( Arsenal, England).
Others are; Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal, Netherlands), Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave, United States), Lena Oberdorf (Wolfsburg, Germany), Alexandra Popp (Wolfsburg, Germany), Alexia Putellas (Barcelona, Spain), Wendie Renard (Lyon, France), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit, United States) and Fridolin Rolfo (Barcelona, Sweden).
According to the organizers, the winner will be announced on October 17th.
