National Association of Nigeria Nurses in North America (NANNNA) in collaboration with Anambra State Government holds Anambra Health Mission 2024 outreach themed “Taking Healthcare To The Grassroots.”
The health outreach which was held at Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Ezira, Orumba South Local Government Area commenced on August 6, and is also to hold in Idemili North, Orumba North and Anaocha LGAs respectively.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike in his remarks, urged the community on utilisation of the Ezira health facility as newly recruited nurses/midwife were working to ensure they benefit from health packages of the state government.
He explained that the outreach programme and renovation of the Ezira PHC by NANNNA was a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model geared at supporting government interventions to ensure quality of services at the grassroots.
The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Pharm Chisom Uchem thanked NANNNA for their initiative to benefiting communities, the society and Ndi Anambra.
NANNNA team lead, and President of its New Jersey Chapter, Mrs Stella Ngozi Okonkwo noted that their partnership and outreach programme was aimed at effective and efficient healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.
Other representatives of NANNNA at the event were: the Chairman, Health Mission Committee and a Board member of the Califonia chapter, Dr Esther Oshunluyi, and a Board member of the New York chapter, Dr Tessy Okoro.
The NANNNA health outreach comes after their renovation of the healthcare centre which Included; painting, roofing of the three rooms boys quater attached to the PHC, and carpeting of the PHC.
Also, provision of delivery bench, adult weight scale, ward screen, and installation of railings in the Ezira PHC.
The event had in attendance member representing Orumba South Constituency, Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Jude Nwafor, and member representing Orumba North Constituency, Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Paul Obu.
Others were Orumba South LGA Transition Committee Chairman, Mr Azubuike Shedrack Nzubechukwu, PHC Director Orumba South LGHA, Mrs Philomena Aniokwu, and PHC Director, Idemili North LGHA, Mrs Ifeyinwa Anigbogu, among many others.
