Commissioners of Environment from Nigeria’s South-West, South-East, and North-Central geo-political zones have called for stronger political commitment and increased funding to boost climate action at the subnational level. During a high-level panel session at the Nigeria Climate Change Forum, hosted by the Society for Planet and Prosperity (SPP) and the African Climate Foundation (ACF), the commissioners discussed their states’ climate initiatives, challenges, and opportunities. The forum, held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on January 29, 2024, aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders to drive sustainable development and achieve net-zero emissions in Nigeria and Africa.
