Njikoka Local Government Area has been plunged into mourning following the passing of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Patrick Mbamalu Okeke, JP (KSJI), the revered traditional ruler of Abagana.
The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, alongside Hon. Jude Akpua PhD, Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and representative of Njikoka II Constituency, have both expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the monarch, describing it as an irreplaceable loss to Abagana, Njikoka, and the entire Anambra State.
In his condolence message, Mayor Ononiba highlighted Igwe Okeke’s immense contributions to the unity and progress of his people. He noted that the monarch’s wealth of knowledge, experience, and commitment to cultural heritage had made him a beacon of wisdom and a pillar of stability in the community. “His leadership and guidance have been instrumental in fostering peace and development in Abagana and Njikoka. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” Ononiba said, extending sympathies to the royal family, Ndi Abagana, and the entire Njikoka community.
Similarly, Hon. Akpua described the late Igwe as a custodian of tradition and a symbol of unity whose wise counsel and leadership left a lasting impact on Njikoka II Constituency and beyond. “His demise has left a huge void in our hearts and in the leadership of our community,” Akpua stated. He assured the people of Abagana of the Assembly’s solidarity during this difficult time and prayed for the repose of the monarch’s soul.
Both leaders praised the legacy of Igwe Patrick Mbaamalu Okeke, noting that his contributions to peace, cultural preservation, and community development will be remembered for generations. They prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the royal family and all those grieving this significant loss.
