Ohanaeze Ndigbo has lost its President General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to the cold hands of death. The PG who was 82 year old died on Thursday, 25th July, 2024 after a brief illness, in Abuja.
This was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by Jide Iwuanyanwu, the son of the late PG.
“The Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State announces the demise of our patriarch, Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo,” the statement read.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday July 25, 2024 after a brief illness. He was aged 82. Chief Iwuanyanwu before his death was President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly.”
On the 20th of April, 2023, Iwuanyanwu was elected as the second PG of Ohanaeze Ndigbo following the passing of Prof. George Obiozor. He was a prominent Nigerian businessman, politician, and philanthropist known for his significant contributions to various sectors, particularly within the Igbo community and beyond.
He is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, many children and grandchildren.
The statement indicated that the family would announce the burial details later, following appropriate consultations and subject to confirmation.
