Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant in Anambra State, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Awka, challenging the legitimacy of the APC gubernatorial primary held on April 5, 2025. The suit names the APC, Nicholas Ukachukwu, and INEC as defendants, seeking to nullify Ukachukwu’s nomination and recognize Ozigbo as the rightful candidate.
Ozigbo criticized the primary as a “well-scripted illusion,” alleging irregularities such as a contrived delegate list, lack of accreditation, and violence. He also claimed Ukachukwu failed to meet the APC’s eligibility criteria. The lawsuit includes supporting documentation from the party’s constitution and internal communications.
Amid turmoil within the Anambra APC, including resignations and defections, Ozigbo emphasized the need for democratic accountability and integrity. He stated his actions aim to restore the party’s credibility and secure its future. The court has yet to set a hearing date.
