Police Arrests a Woman, Her Friend for Selling a Baby for N600,000 in Ogun State

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 23 years old lady who sold her three weeks old baby boy along with her friend for six hundred thousand naira.

The lady, Mary who hails from Omu-aran local government area in Kwara State said she sold her baby to a buyer from Anambra State whom her friend introduced to her.

The police got the hint of the business from the complaint lodged by the baby’s father at Mowe Police divisional headquarters which leads to the arrest of Mary and her friend.

The baby’s father noted that he meet and dated Mary and she became pregnant which made him rent an apartment for her.

He noted that Mary disappeared from the apartment three weeks after the delivery of her baby boy to live in a hotel where she hooked up with another man.

The police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement noted that efforts to recover the baby have proved abortive.

While for his part, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole orders the transfer of Mary and her friend to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the state criminal investigation departments for further investigation.
