The longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II, aged 96 died at Balmoral, after reigning for 70 years.
According to the statement from Buckingham Palace: ” the Queen die peacefully this afternoon while surrounded by her families who came to her Scottish estate after growing concerns about her health earlier today.
With her death, her eldest son, Prince Charles, former Prince of Wales will lead the country in mourning as the new king and head of state of 14 Commonwealth realms.
Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne in 1952.
