FCT, Abuja – Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has criticized former Anambra governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for allegedly maintaining silence over the demolition of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM)’s head office in Anambra State to pave the way for a road expansion project.
Omokri, in a social media post, accused Obi of double standards, pointing out that the same Peter Obi, alongside public figures like Obiageli Ezekwesili, had previously condemned both the Federal Government and Lagos State Government for demolishing parts of Landmark Beach Resort in April 2024 to make way for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Critics at the time had framed that demolition as an attack on Igbo businesses.
Omokri questioned why similar outrage has not been expressed over the Innoson demolition, which occurred under the administration of Anambra’s current governor, suggesting selective activism and ethnic bias in public discourse. The accusation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting Omokri’s stance while others see it as politically motivated.
