A humanitarian organisation, Rotary International, Onitsha Metropolis has presented some household items to Government Health Care Centre, Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area as part of activities lined up to mark this year’s maternal and Child Health Project.
The President of the club , Rtn Oby Arinze and other members distributed the items which included Insecticide treated nets, Pampers, Soaps, Multivitamins among others to Pregnant mothers, nursing mothers and their babies.
The project also featured some health talks by a medical practitioner and a club member Rtn Dr Onochie Chukwujindum.
The medical Doctor, in his lecture, advised pregnant mothers to ensure that they protect themselves and their child by sleeping with the mosquito net, this he said will reduce malaria.
While lending his voice a senior Rotarian of the club, Rtn Dr Ugo Abba admonished urge mother’s to ensure that they sleep under the net not minding the weather conditions.
The President of the club Rtn Oby Arinze, appreciated mothers and enjoined them to always take their medications as at when due. She also thanked the management of the hospital for welcoming Rotarians.
One of the mothers who was among the recipients thanked Rotarians for their kind and thoughtful gestures in remembering them .
The Matron of the Health care centre appreciated Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis for such Humanitarian service.
Members who accompanied the president on the visit include, Rotarian Ugo Abba, Obi Ossai, Anuli Okonkwo, Dr Onochie Chukwujindum, Nneka Okafor, Kelechi Umeh and Smart Ezuma.
