The Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis has concluded plans to offer scholarships to no fewer than ten indigent school children in various secondary schools as part of its programme to promote education in the state.
The President of the Organisation, Rtn Oby Arinze disclosed this at a ceremony to mark her installation as the 23rd president of the club.
Rtn Arinze who is a staff of the News Sub-Directorate of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu, Purity FM Awka, enjoined good spirited citizens to support the organization in its efforts to impact the lives of the needy in society.
The president highlighted other programmes and projects which the club intends to undertake during her tenure to include environmental fumigation in all markets in Onitsha, micro credit scheme to empower women among others.

Rtn Arinze expressed her determination to increase the organization’s impact on the lives of people in Onitsha Metropolis and its environs through their professional and vocational training programmes, as well as business development, education and health support projects and services.
In a speech, the Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor on Security, Mr Chiejina Obieze appreciated the club for keying into the free education policy of the Professor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration, and pledged to partner with the club to enable it succeed.
Also speaking, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi highlighted the impact of Rotary International in the society, and urged the new president and her members to sustain the legacy of selfless service to humanity
Highpoints of the event were installation proper, awards and free medical outreach.
