Anambra State legislators have urged Gov. Charles Soludo to urgently provide operational vehicles to the State Vigilante Services to enable them carry out adequate security of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra.
This followed a motion moved under ‘Matters of Urgent Public Importance’ by the Minority leader, Mr. Onyebuchi Offor representing Ekwusigo State Constituency and seconded by Mr. Patrick Udoba representing Anambra West during plenary on November 8.
The Speaker, Mr. Uche Okafor who presided over the plenary had put it to a voice vote while the lawmakers responded through accordingly.
Speaking on the motion, Mr. Offor who is the Chairman House Committee on Security said that the provision of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) that could enter the hinterland would strengthen the security apparatus in the rural areas as well as help combat criminalities in the state.
He added that it would help the security personnel to reach hard-to-reach areas where criminalities are being perpetrated.
Speaking in favour of the motion, Mr. Noble Igwe representing Ogbaru 1 State Constituency, Mr. Emeka Aforka the Deputy Majority leader and others described the motion as apt.
They thanked Mr. Offor for the motion saying that it came at the right time.
“The provision of the vehicles would ease tension especially in the rural areas of the state in putting an end to kidnapping, armed robbery, amongst other criminal activities.
