Anambra State has been chosen among the states in the nation to benefit from Small Holder Horticultural Empowerment Promotion (SHEP) project.
The state SHEP Team Leader, Mr. Jude Nwankwo who made this known at the state Ministry of Agriculture, Awka said that Master Trainers from Abuja has already arrived the state for the commencement of baseline survey for the project.
He added that under the project farmers would be guided and educated on horticultural crops and best marketing practices using SHEP method.
“They can now predict the market using market information to know how best to grow and sale the horticultural crops. Again nutrition information is essential to know what we eat and how we plan our menu.’’
The Team Leader, who is the Programme Manager, Agriculture Development Programme (ADP), explained that the master trainers would also teach the Ministry the rudiments of baseline survey.
According to him, two communities have been selected in the state for the project, namely Oraukwu in Idemili Local Government Area and Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area.
He added that the project would be scaled up in the nearest future to include Nawfija and Ogbunka Communities in Orumba South Local Government Area.
