The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has assured the transport workers in the state that his administration would definitely look into their issue of revenue generation and come up with a lasting solution.
Gov. Soludo through his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim gave the assurance while addressing Heads of Transport Unions at the states Revenue House, Awka.
The meeting had in attendance the State Information Commissioner, Sir Paul Nwosu; Commissioner of Transport, Mrs Patricia Ifeoma Igwebuike; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi; Managing Director, Anambra Internal Revenue Service(AIRS), Mr Richard Madiebo, others.
He emphasized that the Soludo led administration would be transparent in his dealings with revenue collections, assuring the citizens that their payments of taxes and levies will be used for meaningful development in the state.
“We will look into the requests of different transport sections who presented payment schedules that will help their units ranging from monthly, weekly and daily payments.
“I assure you that this administration with a human face has the interest of the people at heart, Anambra people are hardworking who are not known for violence, we must dialogue and find solution to this.”
Mr Uchenna Umeh who spoke on behalf of the tricycle operators popularly known as ‘Keke’ beckoned on the State Governor to reduce the levies imposed on them as things are getting hard by the day.
Mr Peter Onyemaife on behalf of the shuttle drivers thanked the state government for giving them the ground to air their views, adding that the present administration who is grassrooted will hearken to their plea.
