The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Ven. Amaechi Okwuosa has given the leadership of Timber market Umuokpu, a 7-day ultimatum to either submit their Master plan or Approval plan to the Authority in other to escape demolition.
Okwuosa gave this order during the process of issuance and marking of shops at the market.
The ACTDA helmsman frowned at the level of misrepresentation by the leadership of the market which misinformed the government on the actual size of the market.
“The master plan will inform our decision on the areas of violation”.
“We have given them short notice to submit either their approval or Master plan, failure to do that, we will come down heavily on them and destroy what they are building”.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi while commenting on the development noted that from observations, some parts of the market spaces have been sold to individuals who are building without the basic requirements like toilet facilities and also without government approval.
“The leadership of the market is not in partnership with the government and I am sure that all these buildings did not pass any integrity test”.
The team also went to Isuaniocha where it pulled down the fence of a structure for obstruction of access road.
Men of Anambra Vigilante Services accompanied the Authority on the inspections. (MOI)
