United Kingdom Prime Minister, Liz Truss has announced her resignation from office after serving for 44 days; making her the shortest-serving PM after George Canning who died in active service in August 1827 after serving for 119 days.
This resignation came as a result of the financial crisis affecting the UK which lead to the sack of the past Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng and the increments of taxes.
PM Truss succeeded Boris Johnson as PM after winning a clear victory over Rishi Sunak in an election conducted by the Conservative Party members.
Two days after her victory, Queen Elizabeth II dies, pushing the country into a state of mourning and suspension of all political activities.
