The traditional ruler of Ukpo Igwe Robert Eze has celebrated his 2024 new yam festival with the expectation that people should embrace farming and their cultural heritage.
The royal father while performing the new yam rites,spoke of the imperatives of celebrating the yam as king of all crops, and used the forum to acknowledge his subjects, friends and well wishers who honoured his invitation to promote the Igbo culture.
In their message to the occasion, a former member that represented Dunukofia constituency in the Anambra state house of Assembly Chief Paul Okeke, a former Chairman Dunukofia LGA Chief John Olibie and Chief Ikechukwu Nwabueze felicitated with Igwe Okeke on the successful new yam festival and expects that people should embrace farming to enhance their means of livelihood.
Also in his message to the occasion, Prince Chinedu Eze felicitated with Igwe Eze and wished him a more fruitful reign.
Prince Eze further appreciated Prince Arthur Eze for supporting the cause of the less privileged in the society.
At Ifite Dunu, the traditional ruler Igwe Chukwuemeka Ilouno also performed the new yam rites with the expectation that people should embrace farming to enhance food production in the state.
Also at Ihiala, the traditional ruler of the community Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu, performed the new yam rites, stressing on the imperatives of celebrating the yam to promote the cultural heritage of the Igbos.
