Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has launched a major renovation project for the 5-star Imo Concorde Hotel in Owerri, aiming to restore it to international standards.
The hotel’s comprehensive overhaul will replace all existing facilities with new ones, with a projected completion date of August. Standard equipment will be installed in all departments, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Hilton Group, a renowned hotel management company, to oversee the hotel’s operations.
In addition to the hotel renovation, Governor Uzodinma has also initiated plans to construct an international recreation facility on the Nworie River beach. This project aims to boost Imo State’s tourism and hospitality industry, creating new opportunities for economic growth and development.
The Commissioner for Tourism in Imo State, Barr Jerry Egemba, emphasised the significance of these projects, highlighting their potential to transform the state’s tourism landscape. With the renovation of the Imo Concorde Hotel and the development of the Nworie River beach facility, Imo State is poised to become a premier tourist destination in Nigeria.
