The Managing Director, Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA), Engr. Obinna Nduka says Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has mandated that roads in the state must be made motorable and safe for the residents and others who are passing through the state.
Speaking with the press during an ongoing road rehabilitation along Enugu-Onitsha expressway Awka, the ARMA MD said, “we are working in line with the mandate of his Excellency Prof. Charles Soludo.
“We have some challenges driving along this road because of gully erosion eating it up therefore the state governor has mandated that the road be repaired and be made safer for Ndi-Anambra and other road users without delay’’.
He noted that palliative works have commenced on the road since 24th day of October this year.
The commissioner said that other roads have been mapped out for rehabilitation works; these include, New market road by Iboku and Obanye street Onitsha, New market road by Vein road and the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, desilting of drainages at new market road, Onitsha among others,
He added that others the Akwata and Amawbia flyovers, explaining that the works would be rounded-up in a week time.
A Chartered Accountant, Mr. Chuks Osuagwu commended the State Government for refilling the potholes found in Onitsha roads thereby reducing gridlocks in the area.
“The roads were in a very bad shape with a lot of potholes and traffic. We are now seeing the benefits of the Soludo solution,” he said.
