The Chairman/Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, emphasized that education is a crucial tool for development in Aguata LGA. This belief has led to the initiation of the “Aguata Best Students Challenge” and the “Aguata Best Teachers Award.”
According to Dr. Ofobuike, these initiatives aim to encourage students within the LGA to be focused, hardworking, resilient, and committed to their studies. Additionally, they seek to recognize teachers for their dedication and to motivate them to remain steadfast in their roles.
Dr. Ofobuike made these remarks during the ASHOKA Africa “Everyone a Changemaker” programme, which was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and ASHOKA Africa at the Secretariat Hall in the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
“When I assumed office, I discovered a significant gap in the educational system. To address this, we initiated these programs and even sponsored some students on an excursion to Lagos and Ghana,” he stated.
“Last year, we provided customized packages for our pupils, and this year, we have an extensive array of plans for both pupils and students. Outstanding students among them will be flown to South Africa. Therefore, I urge you to take your studies seriously, for there is dignity in labor,” he concluded.
