As Anambra State workers join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s International Workers’ Day, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has described the state workforce as solid partners in progress.
Rt. Hon. Udeze also urged them to sustain and deepen the existing cordial working relationship and industrial harmony between the workforce and the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
In a goodwill message to the workers, made available to journalists in Awka by his Senior Special Assistant and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emma Madu, the Speaker expressed satisfaction with the impressive performance of Anambra workers in various civil service competitions, where they have consistently outshined their counterparts across the country.
He noted that Anambra workers have brought pride to the state by clinching first-place positions and winning accolades as overall best teachers in both national and international competitions.
Commending Governor Soludo for his pragmatic efforts in enhancing the status and welfare of state workers through massive recruitment, continuous training and retraining, and support for organized labour, the Speaker called on workers to reciprocate by upholding the values of integrity and professionalism.
He encouraged them to use this year’s Workers’ Day celebration as an opportunity to reflect on ways to be more productive, emphasizing the importance of dedication, resilience, and innovation.
The Speaker also lauded the State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, and other key stakeholders in the public and civil service sectors for their roles in transforming the system. He urged workers to continue supporting the Soludo-led administration, which, he said, has positively impacted their lives and restored dignity to public service.
