A joyous and festive atmosphere filled the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka as the Anambra State government, through the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, organized a Christmas Carol of Lessons and Praise themed “Emmanuel, God with Us,” in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The event featured delightful performances from the Government House Chaplaincy Choir, Singspiration Chorale, Cathedral Choir of St. Faith, the Mass Choir of the Anambra State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, and the St. Patrick’s (Cathedral) College Choir.
Adding to the joyful ambiance were orchestral accompaniments from Gentle Voice, along with praise renditions by gospel artists Geo-King and Stephanie-Kelly Uzor.
During the event, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, commended Governor Prof. Charles Soludo for the significant developments taking place in the state and for approving the Christmas carol event.
He noted, “We are happy to celebrate the glory of God through this Christmas carol and praise. As you can see, Anambra is wonderfully made with excellent road infrastructure, a beautiful environment, and notable projects. The Solution Government is diligently transforming the state into a prosperous, smart megacity.
“We thank God for Anambra State and everyone who came here to celebrate, and we wish everyone—especially those returning from the diaspora—a merry Christmas celebration. The Solution Government is committed to ensuring you enjoy your holidays,” he added.
In attendance at the occasion were the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor; National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokwenwa; Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; Anambra State Command Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mrs. Joyce Alexander; and Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, among others.
